NVIDIA and its partners recently announced a successful proof of concept on 5G and VR Accelerate Vehicle Battery Design.
U.K. vehicle battery manufacturer Hyperbat innovates design processes using 5G, VR and edge computing.
The project uses edge computing and the world’s first 5G-enabled VR technology to enable two remote engineering teams to work simultaneously on a 1:1-scale digital twin of an electric vehicle battery.
The project is taking place at Hyperbat, the U.K.’s largest independent EV battery manufacturer, and the partners include BT, Ericsson, the GRID Factory, Masters of Pie, Qualcomm and NVIDIA.
Using a digital twin with VR delivers greater clarity during the design process. Engineers can work together from anywhere to effectively identify and rectify errors during the vehicle battery design process, making projects more cost-effective.
