The exterior shell is made from hardened plastic with all metal fixtures – lens mount and hot shoe – securely fixed in place. The Canon variety of this lens uses a micro motor to drive the autofocus. Images are sharp, crisp, and have excellent color rendition thanks to Canon’s long-standing color science. Considering the predecessor lacked 4K recording altogether and housed only a 24-megapixel sensor. Sure, this is an old feature. With that, you will not get the full 4K resolution and detail expected. Overall, focusing performance here is superb and far superior to other iterations within the series. Photographers will surely appreciate the higher megapixel count and improved autofocusing system, while videographers will love DPAF and uncropped 4K capture. What’s more, it can perform in-camera image processing from RAW files to JPEG to reduce your overall workflow and remove the need for post-processing.
